Something new happening at The Hippie

If you haven't been over to check out Healthy Hippie Trading Co., aka The Hippie, you'll want to get over right away. Hippie owner, Sarah Rose, is constantly bringing in new vendors and new products and she may have out done herself with her latest project, Sarah's Closet.

When asked about the inspiration for this venture, Sarah explained that Sarah's Closet seemed to be a natural extension of the Pure Romance business she had several years ago.

"With Pure Romance, I would pack up all my inventory and drive to my hostess's home so I could have classes there. While I loved what I was doing I didn't enjoy the packing and unpacking along with the late nights," she tells us. "After one particularly long night and a two hour drive home, I decided to retire from the business."

She may have closed her business but she never stopped thinking about all the wonderful women she met during her time as a Pure Romance rep.

"When I decided to join Pure Romance, I thought it was just going to be a fun and silly girl's night type of thing. Instead, I met women who were desperate for someone to talk to about matters that they didn't feel comfortable discussing with their friends or even their doctor. I also learned that even today's modern woman is sorely under educated about the more intimate aspects of her body," she said.

This awareness changed how Sarah structured her classes, making education a priority over product. She took college courses in human sexuality and self-educated every chance she had.

"My formal education along with my interpersonal experiences at the home parties allowed me to comfortably discuss topics that some view as taboo. I've always said that there's nothing wrong with something being private and personal. I respect that. What I was trying to change is when things become shameful and secret. There's no need for that," she said.

With that in mind, Sarah created a cozy and intimate space in her store that she named Sarah's Closet.

"I created a space that I would literally love to have in my home. It's lush, it's sexy, it's cozy, it's spiritual. It's where sensuality meets spirituality," Sarah said.

Sarah's Closet is where you can find lingerie and other garments perfect for a sexy night out, as well as body care, sensual aids and devices.

"My goal was that this would be a space where women would feel 100% safe and comfortable shopping, either alone or with a partner. I feel confident that we have succeeded in doing that."
