Celebration of Life

Robert G. Myers, “Bob” passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 9.

Bob was 88 years old; he grew up in Albuquerque, NM with his parents Nadine and Gearold Myers and sister Betty Lou. Bob graduated from Albuquerque High School and went on to earn a BSME at New Mexico College of Agriculture & Mechanical Arts, now New Mexico State University, Las Cruses, New Mexico in 1958 and an MBA at Golden Gate College, now Golden Gate University, Vandenberg Air Force Base in 1972. Bob served in the United States Air Force, he retired after 27 years in active and reserve service, his rank was Lieutenant Colonel.

Bob raised his family in Santa Maria, California, his education, and service in the United States Air Force were the foundation of a successful career in the aerospace industry working on a variety of military aircraft with Boeing and Northrup Grumman. During Bob’s military and civilian career, he worked at several military bases, spending most of his time with the fine men and women at Vandenberg Air Force Base and Edwards Air Force Base in California.

Bob was an active man who enjoyed every aspect of life. Bob worked hard, he played hard too! Sometimes playing on five softball teams a season! He loved ice hockey, hunting, fishing, backpacking, downhill and cross-country skiing, running, golf, tennis, and even horseshoes! Bob’s enthusiasm and respect for life and the great outdoors will endure…he taught those he loved well - family and friends alike!

Bob is survived by his wife Sherry Myers, sister, Betty Lou Gatto, son and daughter-in-law Wayne Myers and Leslie Petersen, daughter Laura Myers-Wagner and son-in-law John Wagner and his grandchildren Ashlee Trujillo, Kingston Wagner, and Mariah Wagner and great granddaughter Kodee Trujillo. Bob’s extended family includes Sherry’s children Debbie, Brian, and Jeffrey DuPuy, their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

A Full Honor Military Ceremony will be held at the National Cemetery, 30338 E. Bear Mountain Blvd., Arvin, California on Friday, Oct. 20, at 12:30 p.m.

All are welcome to the ceremony and celebration of life event afterwards at 2 p.m. at the Villa La Paz Conference and Event Center at the Cesar E. Chavez National Monument, 29700 Woodford-Tehachapi Rd., Keene, California.
