TVHD community garden project is coming along nicely

Tehachapi Valley Healthcare District was proud to talk about the progress of their community garden project with the Tehachapi Humanitarian Relief Group. Now that the fence is up at their second location downtown behind the site of the old hospital, TVHD is searching for volunteers to build raised beds. The garden will feature a section for in-ground flowers, plants and veggies available for community use and another section of raised beds to be rented out to local businesses. Income from the raised beds will support garden maintenance and TVHD’s community projects.

In addition to the food and flowers, there will be a rock garden feature filled with rocks painted by the community. At Tehachapi Hometown Christmas in December, TVHD will have a booth where community members can paint two rocks: one for the community garden and one to take home. Tehachapi Hometown Christmas will take place on Sunday, Dec. 2 from 1 to 5 p.m. along South Green Street.

At the outreach meeting, TVHD also committed to purchasing $200 worth of coats for the upcoming coat drive at Salvation Army on Nov. 4 from 9 to 11 a.m. TVHD is also exploring the possibility of paying a bill on behalf of Cornerstone Center for Counseling and Discipleship, who is in a rough spot financially.
