Tehachapi's Online Community News & Entertainment Guide
The Tehachapi Symphony Holiday Concert at Country Oaks Baptist Church was fantastic, as always. It was a very chilly night on Dec. 8, but the cool weather put us all in the Christmas spirit.
The highlight for me was "A Cello Christmas," with music arranged by Helen Newby, a world class cello player based in Brooklyn, New York and the daughter of the David Newby the Music director of the Tehachapi Symphony Orchestra.
The Christmas music arranged by Helen Newby was all the favorites for kids of all ages. The selections included, "White Christmas," "Mele Kalikimaka," "The Christmas Song," "Silver Bells," "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and "All I want for Christmas is You." Helen Newby recently released her second album, "A Cello for Christmas."
After intermission, the Tehachapi Symphony Orchestra performed selections from George Frideric Handel's "Messiah" arranged by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ebenezer Prout.
This Christmas concert is a must for me each year and I hope it becomes a must for you, too!
