TehachaSleep celebrates opening with tacos, ribbon cutting

On Tuesday, Dec. 12, a new shop celebrated a much-anticipated grand opening. Nearly 50 residents, including members of the Greater Tehachapi Chamber of Commerce board members, City Council and City Hall came to support the ribbon cutting of TehachaSleep, located at 112 E. Tehachapi Blvd.

Adriana and Peter Garthwaite, owners of the Christian Store, realized their dream of opening a mattress store that offers Tempur-Pedic mattresses and accompanying products, including beautiful fabrics for quilts. Before the ribbon was cut, Peter Garthwaite said a few words about how he was excited to open a shop after being in the mattress business most of his adult life, and now he and his family are excited to serve the Tehachapi area.

Guests enjoyed sweet treats and free carne asada tacos from Pastor's Tacos, another new business that is working on getting off the ground. Many guests were thrilled to find beautiful fabrics for quilting projects. Karen's on the Boulevard also rents a space within TehachaSleep, where guests can browse a selection of antiques.

TehachaSleep offers a wide variety of mattresses, free delivery and interest-free financing. They are open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
