Meet TVRPD's new Marketing, Recreation Specialist

Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Park District has recently added a new Marketing and Recreation Specialist to their staff. Sarai (pronounced Sara-E) Diaz comes to TVRPD from the Village Collective in Downtown Tehachapi, where she had been working as Administrative Assistant since August of 2018.

Sarai moved to Tehachapi from the Coachella Valley with her boyfriend following her 2018 graduation from the Palm Springs campus of Cal State San Bernardino. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors Degree in Communications, Public Relations and Marketing. Since her arrival, she had been hoping to find a marketing position. While still in college, she had worked as an intern and then under contract to One Future Coachella Valley, working on events, branding, marketing and website design for the organization.

While she enjoyed her work with the Village Collective, a marketing position with more community involvement was her goal. As Marketing and Recreation Specialist, Sarai will be responsible for the social media of all departments within TVRPD. She will also be teaming up with Recreation Manager, Brenda Gonzales, on children's programs for tots, an art show in the spring and developing a scavenger hunt that will promote physical activity for the young participants.

Other programs she is hoping to help TVRPD develop include a Space Camp and STEM program. She said she has ideas for animal programs involving the dog parks and nature trails; basically anything with more engagement for kids and the community.

Sarai admits that she is always in creative mode and there is no doubt that she will be an asset to Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Park District.
