What's Up in Bear Valley Springs?

A long-time resident and active community member has recently passed away. Eileen Butera was an avid hiker, a gardener, well versed in the local wildflowers and plants. She and husband, Harry, were also long-time members of the Tehachapi Sportsmans Club. Sincere condolences to Harry Butera and family on their loss.

The BVS Cultural Arts Association is sponsoring a wine tasting event at the Oak Tree Country Club on Feb. 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. The wines offered will be from the Tehachapi Wine and Cattle Company, and accompanied by smooth romantic jazz by saxophonist, Herbie Kaye. The cost is $35 per person, which includes five tastings as well as assorted appetizers and sweets. A silent auction of beautiful wine baskets will also be available. Tickets can be reserved on EventBrite. Reservations are required and need to be in by no later than 9 a.m. on Feb. 7.

The BVS Garden Club will be having their first meting of the season, also on Feb. 16 at the Equestrian Center Lounge from 2 til 3:30 p.m. The speaker at that meeting will be Paul Higgason, speaking about growing potatoes and his unique methods. Also, included will be some information about composting. The dues for the year are required at that meeting for $10 per season. BVS residents can gain valuable information about the challenges of growing a garden in Bear Valley Springs. Non-residents are welcome, and the membership is $20. Contact them at [email protected].

The junior Soccer League is taking sign-ups. They welcome boys and girls from age 3-15 years old. Sign up before Feb 18. Residents under 6 years old cost $90. From ages 7 and up, the cost is $150. The league runs from April 6 til June 8. Sign up at bvsa.recdesk.com/.

Bear Valley Springs is a private gated community in which the residents pay an annual association amenities fee. To visit, a non-member or non-resident must arrange with a friend or family member in the community for a guest pass that would permit them to engage in the activities. Guest passes will be checked.
