Special birthday celebration in honor of Cesar Chavez, March 29

Come join a special birthday celebration in honor of Cesar Chavez on March 29 at the Cesar E. Chavez National Monument, 29700 Woodford-Tehachapi Rd., Keene.

12 to 12:30 p.m .: Festive music by a local Mariachi band and local artist demonstrations.

12:30 to 1 p.m., Family Stories and Sweet Treats: Family members will share stories about Cesar and birthday sweets will be provided.

1 to 2 p.m .: Festive music by local a Mariachi band. JR Ranger activities. Guided tours of the Visitor Center, Memorial Gardens, and Helen and Cesar’s home. Local artist demonstrations from Kern Arts Council.

2 to 2:30 p.m .: Dance performance by Ballet Folklorico Ritmo y Sabor de Bakersfield College.

2:30 to 3 p.m .: Junior Ranger ceremony.
