What's Up in Bear Valley Springs?

One thing this community offers in abundance is dance opportunities.

On Wednesday and Sunday evenings in the Oak Branch Saloon, line dancing takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. The beauty of line dancing is that you do not need a partner. You can just get out on the floor and dance. And dancing is good for the brain. Sunday nights are for more advanced dances. Wednesdays, on the other hand, some instruction is involved if you come across a dance you don’t know, or if you are just beginning.

Swing dancing appeals to many. It does require a partner, and lessons are available Fridays in the lounge from 7 to 8:15 p.m., and then you can go over to the saloon and practice.

The third option is vintage dancing. It is available weekly. In the lounge, it is offered the first, third and fourth Thursdays from 6 to 7 p.m. On the second Thursday, it is offered in the Green Room at the Whiting Center, same time.

The CSD is looking to hire a full-time General Manager. The community is encouraged to be involved, as well as the staff, when some candidates are picked to be interviewed.

The Bear Valley Springs Garden Club is up and running for the season. The March meeting was a roaring success with a huge turnout to hear Jon Hammond and Jillian Wood speak about native plants and the benefits of growing them in our garden.

The Tehachapi Resource Conservation District is offering a native plant sale on Earth Day weekend, April 20, specifically. The April 19 meeting will highlight speaker Clare Scotti, a recent club president. She will be talking to the club about bee-keeping and the pollinator benefits.

Bear Valley Springs is a private gated community in which the residents pay an annual association amenities fee. To visit, a non-member or non-resident must arrange with a friend or family member in the community for a guest pass that would permit them to engage in the activities. Guest passes will be checked.
