The Tehachapi Mountain Trails Association has announced that they are partnering with Fernando Gonzales of Get A Bike bike shop in Bakersfield to host the Fathers Day Ride (FDR) – Tour de Tehachapi on June 15. Fernando has hosted this ride for the past seven years as a fun ride, spread by word-of-mouth.
With this partnership, the group plans to make it an official annual event in the spirit of the Tehachapi Gran Fondo that was held in Tehachapi from 2014 to 2017.
There will be three routes for riders to choose from: 100 miles with approximately 6,500 feet of elevation change; 60 miles with approximately 4,500 feet of elevation change; and 30 miles with approximately 1,600 feet of elevation change. Riders will enjoy challenging rides on all three courses, each showcasing the awesome views of the Tehachapi area, Keene and Cummings Valley. The start/finish is planned for Green St. by Centennial Plaza where a vendor booth and food vendors will be located. Riders will find rest stations situated along the routes to re-hydrate and have a snack.
Riders will receive a t-shirt, a number plate with a timing chip, a swag bag and a ticket for a post-ride meal, included in their event registration. Pricing for the event will be announced at a later date. Course maps will also be available at a later date through a registration link on the TMTA website http://www.tehachapitrails.com/.
