Celebration of Life
Our beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin and friend Elizabeth Ann Searfoss passed peacefully to her heavenly home on May 8 with her mother by her side in Bear Valley Springs, following a courageous four- year struggle with cancer.
Elizabeth (Liz) was born Oct. 19, 1985 at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho to Julie McGuire Searfoss and Colonel Richard Alan Searfoss. From the beginning, Liz faced the many challenges, that stemmed from being born with Kabuki Syndrome, with grace, optimism and the support of her family. Liz grew up mostly in Texas, Florida and California and graduated in 2005 from Tehachapi High School where she enjoyed participating in Drama and Choir. Later, Liz attended Bakersfield College and graduated with an Associate's Degree in Child Development in 2008. Liz worked as a pre-school aide and then as a grocery store courtesy clerk in Provo, Utah and Tehachapi. She was a well-loved smiling face at Albertsons in Tehachapi for years, always ready to help and chat.
Liz was a devoted aunt to her nephews, nieces and the children of her friends. She loved teaching the youngest children in the Primary (Sunday school) of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints. The many children who called her "Aunt Liz" knew she took a keen interest in their lives and always had a candy or two to give.
As much as she loved adventures, more than anything Liz loved and trusted our Savior Jesus Christ. Through good times and very hard times, she never lost her faith in His promises of resurrection and eternal life with Him and her family. Liz often expressed her hope for the time when she would no longer know pain and difficulties. Now that she is at peace, her family carries that hope for the day when we will all be together again with her and our Savior.
Funeral services for Elizabeth were held Saturday, May 18 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints with a viewing and services. Private interment followed at the United States Air Force Academy cemetery, where Liz will be laid to rest near her beloved father. Donations in remembrance of Elizabeth Ann Searfoss may be made to the Kabuki Syndrome Foundation (www.kabukisyndromefoundation.org). Wood Family Funeral Services has been entrusted with her care.
