Commission approves auto storage lot

Planning Commission Update

At their May 13 meeting, the Tehachapi Planning Commission approved the use of a portion of a vacant lot, located at 432-C W. J St., to be used as a storage facility by Nathan’s Towing & Storage as a short-term storage and impound lot.

Approximately one half acre of the 28-acre parcel will be used for the fenced and locked storage facility. There are no structures planned for the facility other than a storage unit for towing equipment.

Nathan’s primary offices are located in Lancaster and the Tehachapi lot is meant to serve as an auxiliary lot for short-term storage, holding vehicles “for a brief period of time, until they’re ready to be delivered to their destination.” Nathan’s is hoping to obtain contracts with the California Highway Patrol and the City of Tehachapi to use the facility for vehicle impounds.

The Tehachapi Planning Commission meets on the second Monday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Tehachapi Police Department Community Room located at 220 W. C St.
