Valley Park grand opening, June 10

The City of Tehachapi is excited to announce the grand opening of Valley Park, 704 W. Valley Blvd., on Monday, June 10 at 10 a.m. The community is invited to attend the ceremony, which will include a ribbon cutting, the opportunity for kids to put their handprints in concrete, a giveaway of 200 soccer balls and free soccer clinics from THS Boys and Girls Varsity Soccer teams.

The park includes a 5-A-Side soccer field, landscaping, shade trees, benches, bicycle racks, picnic tables and parking. The park is located at the corner of Valley Blvd. and Aspen Drive.

"We are thrilled to unveil Valley Park as a new asset to the community. We want the local children who will be frequenting this park to attend the grand opening and place their hands in concrete, memorializing their use of the park for generations to come," said City Manager, Greg Garrett.

The park was funded largely by the Caltrans Clean California program which awarded the City a $2,090,588 grant.
