Grand theft arrests

Tehachapi Police Department

On May 25, officers from the Tehachapi Police Department were dispatched to 400 Tucker Rd. (Walmart) to investigate a report of grand theft from the business.

Walmart employees described the suspects and suspect vehicle to responding officers. Officers located the suspect vehicle in the 1100 block of West Tehachapi Boulevard. The suspects contacted were identified as Kenneth Tyrone Thomas (43), Stephanie Ann Morgan (36), Shantel Denise Taylor (29), Malaysia Rene Coleman (40) and Ingrid Darasha Franklin (30), all residents of Bakersfield.

During the course of the investigation, officers determined Stephanie Ann Morgan had initially given a false name due to having several felony warrants issued to her. The warrants included charges for conspiracy to commit a crime, armed robbery and fraud.

Officers located over $1,000 worth of stolen merchandise and tools commonly used for burglary within the vehicle. The stolen property was inventoried and returned to Walmart. All the involved subjects were taken into custody and booked into the Lerdo Detention Center for burglary, grand theft, possession of stolen property, conspiracy to commit a crime and possession of burglary tools. Morgan was additionally charged with providing a false name to law enforcement personnel to avoid prosecution for previous criminal activity.
