Paul Burton Anderstrom was born in Willmar, Minnesota on Oct. 1, 1948, to Burton Algene Anderstrom and Catherine Rose Anderstrom (McDermott). He was the oldest of three children born to Burton and Catherine. Gerald William Anderstrom and Jacqueline Rose were his siblings, in that order.
Paul played football in high school and earned a scholarship to play football for the University of Illinois. The Vietnam War changed his plans. No college deferments were being issued in Kandiyohi, where he lived before college; so rather than being drafted into the army, Paul volunteered for the Marines in 1966. Active service for 4 years and then in the reserves until 1972.
Paul was adventurous, he raced motorcycles. With the G.I. bill, after service, he continued his education and earned two bachelor degrees and a masters degree. He earned his C.P.A., Certified Public Accountant, which led him to his career.
Paul was very smart and a member of Mensa International.
Paul raised five children in the same house for 33 years. Four boys and one girl: Allon Marie Young, Benjamin Paul Baldassarre, Mackey James Anderstrom, Lucas Byrd Anderstom and Marcus Burton Anderstom. Son in law is Walton Wayne Young and daughter in laws; Tessa Jane Anderstrom and Jodi Rae Anderstrom.
Grandchildren are Greggory Marcus Drissen, Kaitlyn Renee Baldassarre, Mackai Elijah Anderstrom, Finley Jane Anderstrom, Kellan James Pang and Brynn Marie Pang.
Paul is survived by his wife of 38 years, Rhonda Marie, brother, nieces and nephews; Gloria Rose Anderstrom, Matthew Jerome Anderstrom, William Charles Anderstrom, Misti Rose Herbert and Sean David Pillatzki.
Paul died at home in his sleep on June 9, five weeks after his lung cancer diagnosis. He was 75 years old.
