Boys and Girls Club Week

At their June 17 meeting, the Tehachapi City Council declared the week of June 24-28 as Boys and Girls Club Week.

The week has been celebrated nationally since 1941 recognizing the valuable service the clubs bring to communities. They instill youth with the confidence that they can succeed at anything they put their mind to. Their programs promote academic success, healthy lifestyles, good character and citizenship. The clubs help ensure young people have a safe, supportive place to spend time and provide them with quality youth development programs.

Mayor Michael Davies presented a Certificate of Recognition to local club leaders Yesenia Gutierrez and Carlos Zacarias.

The Tehachapi City Council meets on the first and third Monday of the month at 6 p.m. They are currently meeting at the Police Department Community Room, 220 W. C St.
