Tehachapi's Online Community News & Entertainment Guide
During the summertime, senior citizens and others at risk from extreme heat have been directed to find relief at cooling centers across Kern County. Cooling centers are funded through grants from SCE and PG&E. Unfortunately, until the second week of July, Tehachapi’s citizens did not have access to a cooling center.
Tehachapi’s NEW cooling center is now officially open at Tehachapi Adult Day Healthcare Center! It is centrally located downtown at
123 W. F St., and will open from 1 to 8 p.m. on any day that the National Weather Forecasts the high temperature to be at 93 degrees and above for this area.
Confirmation of daily opening can be accessed online by searching Kern County and Cooling Centers (www.kerncounty.com/government/aging-adult-services/services/cooling-centers). Transportation to the cooling center is available by calling 211.
