Celebration of Life: Barbara K. Grantham, August 25, 1947 – July 18, 2024

Provided.

Barbara K. Grantham.

Barbara K. (Peck) Grantham, 76, a compassionate, intelligent, beautiful lady went to sing praises with the Lord, on Thursday evening, July 18, 2024. She fought a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease and took her final earthly breath at her home with her loving husband, Buz Grantham, by her side.

Barbara had the most beautiful smile, a wonderful sense of humor and an excellent wit that drew people to her. She loved to spend time with her family, singing, crafting, cooking and laughing. She excelled at everything she set her mind, hand and heart to.

Barbara was born in Lahaina, Maui to missionaries Edward Newell Peck and Maribeth Bond Peck on Aug. 25, 1947. After graduating from Ramona High in Riverside, California, she married her high school sweetheart, "Buz" L. C. Grantham Jr. She would often recount that from the first time she saw him walk into the room at United Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) in Riverside, she only had eyes for him despite a "flock of admirers" that were "overcome" by him, too.

Barbara went on to work in some of the first computerized financial billing systems as a keypunch operator for ATI, she moved to scheduling surgeries for a busy hospital operating room; and finally, after having a fulfilling career as a United States Air Force Civil Servant, she retired as Chief of Protocol at Edwards Air Force Base.

Her greatest accomplishment was her family. She was a loving, kind and encouraging wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. No one was ever a stranger to her; she had a knack for making everyone feel included and valued. She will be missed and remembered by the many lives she touched.

She is survived in legacy by her husband, L.C. "Buz" Grantham Jr., of Tehachapi; daughter Tamara and her husband, Jeff; daughter, Sheri and her husband, Clint; and son, Jonathan and his wife, Amanda; granddaughters, Meagan and her husband, Luke; Bethani and her husband, Rees; Myranda and her husband, Alex; Brittanie; Kara; and Sienna; as well as, grandsons, Brandon and his wife, Kelsie; Alex and his wife, Haley; great-granddaughters, Evangeline; Natalie; Avery; and Reagan; great-grandsons, Levi and William; Sister, Debbie and her husband John: nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Barbara is reunited in heaven with her parents, Edward and Maribeth Peck; brother, David; and grandson, Steven, who went to be with the Lord as an infant.

Celebration of Life services will be held at Grace Fellowship in Tehachapi at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3. Following will be a light reception.
