Officers make weekend arrests

On July 27, Tehachapi Police Officers were dispatched to a local business regarding a subject possibly doing hand to hand drug transactions out of an RV, in the business' parking lot. Officers arrived in the area and found the RV had moved to the Save Mart parking lot. Officers contacted 48-year-old Michael Brown and his girlfriend 42-year-old Elizabeth Pierce, both from Tehachapi in the RV.

Officers conducted a search of the RV based on Brown's search terms for being on Post Release Community Supervision and Pierce being on Kern County Adult Probation for drugs and drug paraphernalia. During the search, officers located a bag containing approximately 22 grams of suspected methamphetamine, packaging material and a digital weighing scale.

Both subjects were arrested and booked at the Kern County Sheriff's Lerdo facility for possession of a controlled substance for sale, transporting a controlled substance and conspiracy. Brown also had a felony No Bail arrest warrant for violating the terms of his Post Release Community Supervision.

On July 28, at approximately 8 p.m, officers of the Tehachapi Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle the department has identified as being involved in multiple thefts from Tractor Supply. During the stop, officers contacted 38-year-old Gilberto Valtierra Jr. and 42-year-old Leticia Acevedo of Bakersfield. Both subjects were on Post Release Community Supervision with search terms. During a search of the vehicle, officers located a sizable amount of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, scales and a knife. Officers also located a grinder and tire iron in the bed of the truck, which were used in prior theft attempts.

Both Gilberto Valtierra Jr. and Leticia Acevedo were arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail Lerdo Jail facility for possession of a controlled substance for sale, transportation of a controlled substance, possession of burglary tools, conspiracy and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Gilberto Valtierra Jr. was also booked for the three prior thefts from Tractor Supply.
