Tehachapi Symphony Orchestra Music Director ties the knot

Provided.

Tehachapi Symphony finished its 25th season of beautiful music making with its annual patriotic concert on June 23, featuring anthems with the Symphonic Chorus, marches, pop music, show tunes and various other genres, to great acclaim from their patrons. And then there was a huge season finale, as the Symphony's esteemed Music Director, Dr. David Newby, married Alicia Lifquist, one of the Symphony's first violins, on the Fourth of July weekend!

The wedding and subsequent reception were held at the Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles, with lots of family and friends in attendance, including three Symphony Board members and many orchestra musicians.

Dr. Newby has been the Music Director (conductor) of the Symphony for 24 years, joining the Orchestra after its first season. Because of his long tenure with the Symphony, many people in the Greater Tehachapi Area know him and love his ability to choose and deliver such innovative and wonderful music for the community. And all the concerts are still free to the public.

The Orchestra Board thought that our patrons would like to know this new event in Dr. Newby's life, as it is such a momentous occasion for him and for the Orchestra. But don't worry, he has just signed a contract to be our Music Director for the next season!

When you see Dr. Newby with a spring in his step, you will know why!
