There was cause for celebration at the latest Oak Tree Duplicate Bridge session when two of the players received certificates of achievement from American Contract Bridge League.
Bob Nixon, leader of the local club, presented the awards to Jan Combs and John Harris in recognition for earning a record number of Master Points. That achievement indicates both have not only played for many years, but they have played well and consistently scored high.
The local club consists of about 20 people who play in partnerships and compete for high scores every Monday morning. It does require some knowledge and experience with the game, but anyone interested can learn to play bridge online or at Tehachapi SENIOR CENTER.
Bridge has certainly changed since its early development from Whist. Not only has bidding advice changed, but in the Oak Tree Duplicate games, computers keep score and hands are dealt by machine. The club welcomes new players experienced in playing duplicate bridge. Call Bob Nixon at (661) 972-5889 for more information.
