The California Living Museum (CALM) will host its 16th annual Ice Cream Zoofari on Saturday, Sept. 7.
To prepare for this sweet celebration, the zoo will close early at 1:30 p.m. and reopen from 2 to 5 p.m., inviting guests to indulge in a frozen extravaganza. Attendees can build their own ice cream sundaes, enjoy root beer floats and savor a variety of other frozen treats.
Admission for CALM members is $10 for adults and $8 for children (3-12 years). For non- members, admission is $15 for adults and $12 for children (3-12 years).
Your Ice Cream Zoofari ticket includes entrance to the zoo, free rides on the Central California Children's Railroad, and of course, delicious ice cream. Throughout the afternoon, "Zoosicles" will be presented to the animals featuring the bears, deer and our farm animals (subject to change). Back by popular demand is the Dixie Nuts Dixieland jazz band. There will also be games for guests to enjoy throughout the zoo.
To help keep ticket prices affordable despite rising costs, CALM is asking for the community's support.
"We are seeking donations in the form of gift cards from Albertsons or Amazon to help us continue offering this event at an accessible price," said Elizabeth Graff, community engagement and volunteer facilitator. "Every contribution helps us further our mission."
Donations should be dropped off or mailed to the CALM Gift Store at 10500 Alfred Harrell Hwy, Bakersfield, CA 93306 by Sept. 2. All proceeds from this event support CALM's Wildlife Rehabilitation Program.
CALM is located at 10500 Alfred Harrell Highway (between Lake Ming and Hart Park). For information, contact (661) 872-2256.
