Save the date for Kids Day, Sept. 15

Children learn about therapy dogs at Kids Day.

On Sunday, Sept. 15, kids of all ages are invited to the annual Kids Day at the Museum from noon to 4 p.m. on the 300 block of South Green Street. The Tehachapi Museum, Errea House and Garden and Green Street will be filled with fun activities and displays. Admission and all activities are free.

Currently 20 activities and displays have been confirmed, including making bird feeders, beading bracelets, quilting, soap carving, sheep decorating, player piano pumping and weaving. Displays will include local insects and reptiles, railroad safety, emergency services, bees, therapy dogs and amateur radio. New this year will be shell necklace making, writing/decorating notes to veterans returning from the Honor Flight and playing literacy games.

Of course, there will be the popular Scavenger Hunt and the Grand Prize Drawing with prizes donated by Darlene's Real Swell Toys, Carlos' Donuts and Kight's Sweet Treats. In addition to the Tehachapi Museum, other nonprofit organizations participating include The American Legion Auxiliary, Mountain Carvers, Tehachapi Mountain Quilters, Tomo Kahni Park Volunteers, Tehachapi Audubon, Tehachapi Area Radio Amateurs and the Friends of the Tehachapi Depot.
