On Aug. 19, at approximately 10:14 p.m., the Tehachapi Police Department received a call for service regarding an individual under the influence of alcohol and marijuana in the 800 block of Tucker Road.

Officers arrived and contacted Joseph Lopez, 35, of Golden Hills and Rachel Stillman, 23, of Tehachapi, in their vehicle. During the investigation, it was discovered Lopez had two misdemeanor warrants, one of which was a "no bail" arrest warrant for assault. Lopez was subsequently taken into custody. Officers located a black backpack within the vehicle, which both Lopez and Stillman denied ownership. Officers searched the backpack and located cocaine, glass pipes for ingesting narcotics, a digital scale and Lopez' driver license.

Another bag was located within the vehicle and searched by officers. Inside it was methamphetamine, cocaine, packaging material, glass pipes, a digital scale and a "pay and owe" sheet.

A total of 19.1 grams of cocaine and 9.9 grams of methamphetamine were seized.

Both Lopez and Stillman were booked into the Kern County Jail for transporting a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of sales and possession of drug paraphernalia. Lopez was also booked for the arrest warrant.
