Jo-Ann Hanna, 81, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sept. 18 in her home in Tehachapi. Jo-Ann is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Michael Hanna; her sons, Tony, Tim and Paul; daughters-in-law, Lisa and Claudia; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Jo-Ann was born on June 5, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan to her parents, Joseph and Teresa Spalla. She spent the first 10 years of her life in Long Island, New York until her family moved to Palmdale, where her father started his career in the aviation industry. She married Michael Hanna and lived in Rosamond until 1970, when they moved the family to Tehachapi, to be closer to his job at Monolith.

While raising her three boys, Jo-Ann enjoyed playing accordion, piano and organ both at home and for local churches. She loved oil painting, cooking and traveling, visiting most of the United States, Germany and Italy. Jo-Ann and her husband Mike also owned and operated "Mike's Gym" for three years, which was among the first fitness centers in Tehachapi. After retirement, she and Mike were able to live full time in their RV for a couple years, which allowed them to visit their grandchildren across the country.

She loved the Lord and insisted that her family know and understand His love and grace. She selflessly led youth group activities at Christian Life Assembly and shared her love of music to bring others closer to Christ. She left an enduring legacy with her sons and her grandchildren that will last generations.

Jo-Ann fought a courageous battle with illness until she peacefully passed away at home with her husband and sons.
