Friends of the Library seek book sale volunteers to give them a 'lift'

Friends of the Tehachapi Library

Apple Festival is coming up quick, and to get ready for the annual Friends of the Library Apple Festival Book Sale, the Friends of the Library are looking for some volunteers to help with moving and setting up books on Friday, Oct. 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. We also need volunteers to box donations, move books and tear down the sale on Sunday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Service hours are available.)

Sign up to work a shift online at http://www.volunteersignup.org/TQD84 or scan the QR code. Or you can contact us at FOLTehachapi@gmail,com, call or text (661) 750-2818.

The main sale for Apple Festival will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Members of the Friends (membership available for purchase at the door) and those who volunteer can shop before the sale opens from 9:30 to 10 a.m. on Saturday morning. The Boutique section features vintage books, specially priced books, book sets, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks and Great Courses materials.

Our Bag Sale area will feature children's titles, hardback and paperback fiction/nonfiction. Books in the Bag Sale area are $5 a bag. From 3 to 5 p.m., books in the Boutique section will be half off, and the bag sale price will drop to $1 a bag!

We know our Apple Festival sales are challenging for locals - limited parking makes it hard. If you want to beat the Apple Festival crowds, park closer and shop on Friday night! This is a way for the Friends of the Library to show our thanks to our generous community. The local community is invited to shop our "We Love Locals" sale on Friday, Oct. 11 from 4 to 6 p.m. Members and those who volunteer get early access at 3:30 p.m.

The Tehachapi Library will have a booth on Saturday and Sunday at the entrance to the library parking lot on F Street. In addition there will be an area for weary Apple Festival attendees to have a seat in the shade in that same parking lot.

As always, all proceeds support programs at the Tehachapi Library. So please consider volunteering and definitely come out and buy books.

The Tehachapi Library, (661-822-4938), is located downtown at 212 S. Green St. (across from The Hitching Post Theater). The Library has new hours, Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
