The Tehachapi Symphony presents its 26th season, which will be fun for players and audience members alike.

Dr. David Newby, although recently married, returns for another year. He has chosen an innovative repertoire of music, which mostly has not been performed before by TSO. All of the TSO concerts are held at Country Oaks Baptist Church, located at 20915 Schout Rd., Tehachapi. If you are unable to attend one of the concerts, you will be able to listen to it at a later time by going to the Tehachapi Symphony's YouTube page.

The first concert will be Sunday, Oct. 20, at 4 p.m. Othmar Schoeck's "Violin Concerto in B-Flat Major," "Op. 21" featuring Violinist Lorenz Gamma, Jacques Ibert's "Hommage a Mozart" and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Symphony No. 38 in D Major ("Prague")" are on the program.

The holiday concert will be Friday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. and will feature selected soloists and the Tehachapi Symphonic Chorus directed by Sandy Adams in the performance of George Frideric Handel's "The Messiah." Other holiday selections will also be performed.

The third concert on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at 4 p.m. features pianist Dmitry Rachmanov in Sergei Rachmaninoff's "Piano Concerto No. 1 in F-Sharp." Other pieces include "Minor," Samuel Taylor-Coleridge's "Ballade" and George Whitefield Chadwick's "Sinfonietta."

The spring concert will be Sunday, May 18, 2025 at 4 p.m. and will feature the winner of the Young Artist Competition in a concerto of his/her choice. Ethel Smyth's "Overture to the Wreckers" and Johannes Brahms' "Symphony No. 4 in E Minor" will be performed as well.

To round out the season, is the Sunday, June 22, 2025, 4 p.m. Independence Day Pops Concert complete with patriotic songs, marches, anthems, movie music and light classical music.

Members of the Orchestra, the Chorus and the Board look forward to providing classical music to the greater Tehachapi area. All concerts are still free to the public. You may, however, choose to become an orchestra donor to continue the amazing tradition of music for everyone, as it costs about $40,000 for the season.
