Kern Community Foundation awards grant to Tehachapi Valley Horse Rescue for Borel fire relief

Kern Community Foundation has awarded a $3,000 grant to Tehachapi Valley Horse Rescue to support fire relief efforts.

Established in 2019, Tehachapi Valley Horse Rescue is dedicated to the welfare and care of equines. Tehachapi Valley Horse Rescue was gifted 500 3-string oat hay bales to share with those impacted by the fire, helping them care for their animals. This grant will cover the transportation costs of feed. Kern Community Foundation and its partners have given $33,650 in direct relief and recovery for the Borel Fire. Kern Community Foundation remains committed to supporting the community through the recovery process following the Borel Fire.

How to help:

Individuals, organizations and businesses are encouraged to contribute to the Borel Fire Relief Fund. The Foundation will work with nonprofit and government stakeholders, establishing safeguards to secure proper distribution of the funds, which will be used for long term relief: resettlement, rebuilding and infrastructure within the affected area. Nonprofits may request funding from the Borel Fire Relief Fund by filling out the Assistance Request Form through our online grant portal.
