John Alvin Ashe, passed away peacefully on Sept. 16 in Los Angeles with the love of his family and friends. Born on April 17, 1942, John Alvin Ashe led a remarkable life filled with love and support to his family, dedication and service to our country.

John Alvin Ashe leaves to mourn in his passing, wife Maria T. Ashe, five children with mother of (preceded in death) Jo Anne Ashe, John A. Ashe Jr., Sherrod A. Ashe, Wanda Y. Ashe, Patricia L. Ashe and Rhonda J. (Stacy) Moses, eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren children. John is preceded in death by his parents John R. Ashe and Edna L. Hicks Ashe and sister Geraldine Ashe. John is survived by his siblings James, Michael, Stephen and Robyn, a host of other loving family members and friends.

John A. Ashe served honorably in the United States Air Force. On Dec. 28, 1960, John began his military career in the United States Air Force. He served his country for 27 amazing years. During his distinguished military career, he achieved numerous awards, achievements, promotions and decorations. John A. Ashe wrote a book detailing his career journey, "509th Bomb Wing veterans Association." On Feb. 1, 1988, John A. Ashe retired as a Chief Master Sergeant. John Alvin Ashe was a dedicated patriot who served in displaying unwavering courage and commitment. John was deeply respected by his fellow service members and will be remembered for his service in the United States Air Force.

A Chapel Service was held Oct. 2, at Wood Family Funeral Service, 321 W. F St. A Graveside Ceremony with military honors was held the same day at Bakersfield National Cemetery.
