Halloween fun, music, Oct. 27

Mark LaCiura.

Many remember TPops Halloween Concert from 2024.

A Halloween Concert performed by TPops is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 27. It will be just as entertaining and spooky as the community has enjoyed by this group in previous years. Robbie Martinez, the conductor, has planned a program that features the sights, sounds and drama of Halloween.

The community is invited to attend the concert at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27, at ADHC Building, 123 W. F St. There is no charge to attend, although donations are always welcome. This concert will appeal to all ages, so families are most welcome.

Martinez, who is a professor of music at Bakersfield College, has spent his career performing as a musician, composer and arranger. He has designed a program that is unusual and entertaining. Musicians of a wide-range of age and ability make up TPops orchestra. Martinez has encouraged and demanded all players perform to the best of their ability. The success of this approach will be demonstrated at the Halloween Concert.

There will be a wide-variety of music, as well as a dramatic presentation of "The Raven," a poem by Edgar Allan Poe. Martinez arranged music and sounds to augment this tale about a man haunted by a raven. It will be read by Gabriel Sillifant. His ominous words of "nevermore, nevermore" will bring shivers to the audience.

Come get caught up in the spirit of Halloween. Orchestra members will be in costume and this could be an opportunity for attendees to dress-up also. The concert starts at 4 p.m. and doors open at 3:30 p.m.
