Chris Parlier is a former law enforcement officer, Bakersfield City Councilman and U.S. Air Force veteran, holding an extensive career in public service. After honorably retiring as a Special Agent with the California Department of Justice, Chris dedicated eight years to representing the residents of Bakersfield City's Ward 7.
Throughout his career in public service, Chris demonstrated a profound commitment to serving the public and enhancing the safety and quality of life for Kern County communities.
Chris' background in law enforcement provided him with valuable insights into the needs and concerns of Bakersfield residents, and his contributions to the city have left a lasting impact. One of his initiatives included facilitating the city Park Ranger program, keeping children and families safe at our parks. Additionally, Chris took on several street repaving projects and worked to enhance public safety through various city ordinances.
He has also been a strong supporter and advocate for local law enforcement, as shown by his time as a Kern Law Enforcement Foundation board member, which supports all 29 Kern County law enforcement agencies by providing additional funding and resources.
Chris is ready to bring his experience and dedication to the role of District 2 Supervisor. As Vice Mayor of the City of Bakersfield, he led the charge to allocate the resources for adding 100 officers to Bakersfield streets and supported the implementation of ShotSpotter technology, significantly reducing gang-related shootings and enhancing neighborhood safety.
Chris also oversaw significant road improvement projects in District 2, including comprehensive resurfacing and street sealing projects and delivered significant infrastructure projects like the Hosking Road and Highway 99 interchange. Additionally, Chris approved major development projects along the freeway that will bring numerous jobs to our communities.
His commitment to public safety, fiscal responsibility and representing the unique needs of District 2 will be invaluable in addressing the challenges and opportunities it faces.
Chris and his wife Debbie have two adult children and three grandchildren, with one more on the way. His dedication to family and community is matched by his commitment to addressing the challenges facing Kern County's District 2.
