Greater Tehachapi Area Street Interdiction Team Operation

On Oct. 5, the Tehachapi Police Department hosted a Street Interdiction Team (SIT) Operation made up of various agencies throughout Kern County. The participating agencies were Wasco, Arvin, Stallion Springs, Ridgecrest, Wasco, Shafter and Kern County Probation Department. The goal of the operation was to conduct parole/probation compliance checks and to serve active arrest warrants on persons who are out of compliance and reside in the Tehachapi area.

As part of the operation, 17 locations were visited, which resulted in seven arrests, three being felonies and four misdemeanors for various violations ranging from outstanding warrants, possession of narcotics and weapons violations.

The weapons seized from one specific location were two short barrel AR15 style rifles with multiple loaded 30-round and 40-round magazines, a drum magazine, two semi-automatic handguns and a revolver including ammunition.
