WM recognized, officer sworn in by City Council

At the Oct. 7 meeting of the Tehachapi City Council, Mayor Michael Davies presented a Certificate of Recognition to Waste Management for the services and support it has rendered, not only to the city but also other community organizations like the Greater Tehachapi Chamber of Commerce, Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Park District and the Tehachapi Mountain Rodeo Association. They have provided "in-kind" sponsorships including services, materials, resources and even logistics support for city events like Hometown Christmas, Fourth of July, Green Street Get Down and Farmers Market. Accepting the certificate from Mayor Davies was Frank Vasquez, Ashley Cortz and Brenda Higgins of Waste Management. The Tehachapi City Council meets on the first and third Monday of the month at 6 p.m. They are currently meeting at the Police Department Community Room, 220 W. C St.

During the Oct. 7 City Council meeting, Tehachapi Police Officer Ryan Hulse was sworn in by his mentor and past California City Police Chief Jesse Hightower. Also in attendance was Ryan's daughter Ashley.
