New antique in the Errea House

Provided.

The Errea House is the historic house on Green Street that is maintained by Tehachapi Heritage League. Just across the street from the Museum, it brings back memories to many visitors. If you haven't been there lately, you must come see a fairly recent addition: a bassinet in one of the bedrooms, which was donated by Donna Dieterle.

Donna's parents, Grant and Connie Sullivan, purchased the bassinet from an antique store in Tujunga, California in 1947 when they were expecting their first child. In 1953, the family moved to Tehachapi with their two children. Of course, they brought the bassinet which held a third child. Through the years, there were nieces and nephews who also used the bassinet. In fact, between 1947 and 2024, 26 babies have slept in the bed, and all are related in some manner. The last five are grandchildren of Dick and Donna Dieterle.

The Museum and Errea House, at 310 and 311 S. Green St., are both open Saturdays and Sundays from noon until 4 p.m. The Errea House Garden is open daily from dawn until dusk. There is no charge, but donations are always appreciated.
