Earlier this year, the Bear Valley Community Services District unanimously passed a resolution proclaiming Bear Valley Springs a Purple Heart Community. Following the ceremonious installation of the Purple Heart Community sign just inside the front gate, a group of citizens stepped forward with a desire to create a Purple Heart Honor Garden.

This group of passionate citizens has coordinated its efforts with the Bear Valley Springs veterans Association, the Bear Valley Community Services District and the Bear Valley Springs Association. This collaborative effort has garnered resounding support from all entities involved.

The Purple Heart Honor Garden will be located next to the existing Purple Heart Community sign, to the right as you enter the front gate. The driving force behind this initiative is to honor the sacrifice, service and commitment of not only Purple Heart recipients in Bear Valley, but all Purple Heart recipients across our great nation. It is because of them, and countless other veterans, that we continue to enjoy our freedom.

After months of planning, design and following the proper channels for approval, this group of dedicated citizens is now very close to breaking ground. Keep an eye to the right as you enter Bear Valley Springs, just past the gate, to watch the progress of this project as it develops. This effort is dedicated to beautification and honoring all Purple Heart recipients with dignity and respect.

This project is being created by volunteers and funded by donations. The Bear Valley Springs veterans Association is acting as the fiscal agent for the project. If you're interested in participating through your time, talent or financial support, you can contact Holly Doering at [email protected] for more information.
