Meet Your New Neighbors

Ann Wurster moved to Tehachapi in July from Fresno where she was in retirement.

Ann was born in San Diego and grew up in North San Diego County. She was raised a ranch kid and was always around horses. As a kid, her family used to come here. She thought of Tehachapi as horse country and had spent about six summers here. It was those memories of four seasons, mountains and horses that brought her here from Fresno.

Following high school, Ann attended college at the University of California Davis where she studied nursing. After graduation, she knew she didn't want to go back to San Diego, so she stayed in Northern California. As an acute care nurse, over the years she worked for Kaiser at South Sacramento, Stockton and Red Bluff, and at the time of her retirement in 2015, was at Woodland Memorial Hospital in Yolo County. When she finally decided to come back to Tehachapi, she was living in Fresno.

Her memories of Tehachapi as a place for horses brought her back. She currently has three horses Malailai (11), Toby (14) and Cruz (17) that are boarded in Cummings Valley. At her home in town she has two or three cats, depending on the day and a sweet older pup. Ann says she doesn't have a TV but uses her tablet instead. The rest of her time is spent in Cummings Valley with the horses.

Welcome to Tehachapi Ann and happy trails here in Tehachapi.
