Tehachapi's Online Community News & Entertainment Guide

Tehachapi shows up

When there's a need, our community shows up! Tehachapi is known for being a caring and supportive community, generous with their time, talents and resources. On Oct. 5, 185 people from all walks of life gathered together at An Evening for Life to show their support for the Family Life Pregnancy Center and the growing services provided to the Tehachapi and East Kern areas.

Over $39,000 were raised from auctions, validating the need to embrace our community and create a safe space to lovingly serve individuals facing or affected by pregnancy related decisions.

The event hosted the largest number of guests in its history. Guests were treated to Triassic Vineyard's sparkling almond champagne, a variety of delicious wines, including choice wines from the Boisset Collection, and a selection of beers from Westlane Brewing. Amazing appetizers, dinner and dessert were catered by Borda Petite, out of Bakersfield. After dinner, Ryan Beauchamp and Jay Shipman teamed up, once again, to entertain us with their live auctioneering skills! These two not only donated their time and talents as auctioneers, but also their business products for the auction. Ryan Beauchamp owns several vacation properties, including the Microvillage in Downtown Tehachapi, for which a 2-night stay was auctioned. Jay Shipman owns Brite Creek Farms and graciously donated his infamous Farm-to-Table dinners for six as an auction item.

This evening was an incredible success, however, we could not have brought this to the community without our sponsors: An anonymous sponsor generously donated $5,000 toward this event! The Semerenko Team, Nations Lending, Knight Building Systems, Vintage V-12s, Ashmore Motors, Airstreams Renewables, Theresa Mann, Adventist Health, Berchtold Brothers, TK Pizza, Waste Management, Nadine Page and the Zimmerman Family were key sponsors. Paul and Terry Lopez graciously provided the venue, Arosa Pines. In addition, South Street Digital sponsored all the printing needs and Triassic Vineyard provided the champagne.

While our sponsors allowed us to host the event, we would be remiss if we did not pay tribute to our donors for the most fabulous auction items, including: a week at JH Ranch in Northern California, a unique wind turbine experience, sportfishing, white water rafting, a digital piano, products from Miele Apothecary, several handcrafted items from local artists and so much more. There were 58 silent and live auction items, which made this event the best ever!

Our community saw the need, and they did not hesitate to SHOW UP! This event was a great success, not just because of the funds raised, but more importantly because of the relationships built amongst such diverse individuals in this community. People, human beings – LIFE was honored, encouraged and declared worthy by the people, human beings and life of those in this community caring for one other. We, at the Family Life Pregnancy Center, are humbled and in awe of the people we live amongst and serve. Thank you for this honor.
