Superintendent Stacey Larson-Everson.

Following the announcement at the October TUSD School Board meeting by Superintendent Stacey Larson-Everson that she will be retiring at the end of the 2024 and before the end of the school year, the TUSD Board of Directors sent out a notice to executive search organizations asking them to submit proposals to the Board. At the Nov. 12 TUSD Board meeting, three companies had been selected to make presentations to the School Board.

From the three presenting companies, the Board unanimously chose Leadership Associates – Executive Search Leadership, a Southern California company that has been assisting school districts with executive searches since 1996. Blanca Cavazos, Ed.D. gave the company's presentation. Cavazos, who came from the Arvin area and served in various positions throughout the Kern High School District, is currently a Director-At-Large for the Association of California School Administrators (ASCA). Leadership Associates members have all been superintendents at one time and currently conduct 65% of California searches. They will be bringing the top candidates to the TUSD Board in February for interviews with selection to be made at the March 11, 2025 meeting.

Following the selection, Board President Paul Kaminski presented Superintendent Larson-Everson with an award of appreciation for her five and a half years of service to the district. She had been in the position for only nine months before the onset of the COVID pandemic.

TUSD board meetings occur on the second Tuesday of the month at 5 p.m. in the Claude L. Wells Education Center located at 300 S. Robinson St.
