The Tehachapi Lions Club received a $500 environmental grant from California Lions Foundation. This grant was given to the Tehachapi Unified School District. As a result, a 50-gallon sequoia tree was planted in front of Tehachapi High School. The sequoia tree is also known as the giant redwood. They can grow to be over 300 feet tall and have diameters of more than 30 feet near the ground. The sequoia trees lifespan can be more than 3,000 years. The Lions Club hopes the tree will be enjoyed for years to come. Thank you Gabe, Hugo, Seth and Josh from Tehachapi School District Maintenance Department for planting that very large tree.
