Celebration of Life: John Aaron Fairris, August 28, 1935 – November 24, 2024

Provided.

John Aaron Fairris.

John Aaron Fairris was born on Aug. 28, 1935, in Webb, Mississippi, to Charles and Willie (Lay) Fairris. John was the fourth of five boys. Eventually the family moved to California. He went to Jordan High School in Long Beach where he met Bonnie Lou Buckley. They married on April 9, 1954. This year they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. They had two children, Christine and John Jr.

John started working at Rockwell International in Chatsworth, California, when he was 18 and retired when he was 55 years old spending most of his career working as a mechanical engineer. During that time the family lived in Simi Valley. In these years John loved to hunt and fish, especially with his son, John Jr., and his older brother Sam, before Sam's passing.

After retirement, John and Bonnie built a home on nine acres in Springville where John enjoyed the country lifestyle and restoring antiques and a horse buggy. He loved to have his grandchildren come to visit to fish in his pond and ride the ponies.

Sixteen years ago, John and Bonnie moved to Tehachapi to be closer to family. They continued to RV, having spent 50 years total RVing and antiquing all over the United States.

John was an honest and wise man and very respected by all. He was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren. He was truly loved and will be missed by all.

John is survived by his wife, Bonnie; daughter Christine Randall Nielsen and her husband Dave; son John Jr .; grandson Trevor Baldwin and his wife Sheri and their children Wyatt and Cambria; granddaughter Carolyn Romero and her husband Jaime; granddaughter Sarah Flippin and her husband Wesley and their children Brody, Layla and Sadie; grandson Weston Fairris; grandson Jason Fairris and his partner Suma and their son Cooper.

A celebration of life was held at Ivy Park Assisted Living at 4301 Buena Vista Rd., Bakersfield, on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
