Tehachapi's Online Community News & Entertainment Guide
Tehachapi is a place where people are kind, generous and reach out to those who may need help. The Salvation Army is one of the organizations that does a lot to make life in Tehachapi more enjoyable for people. Tehachapi Community Church appreciates these efforts because they have similar goals of caring and sharing with others.
Laurie Betts encouraged members of TCC to support the effort of The Salvation Army to provide Thanksgiving dinners to those in need. The small congregation was able to raise $400 for this project. Laurie asked Albertsons and Save Mart to augment this amount. They gave gift cards of $50 and $100, bringing the total to $550.
Another TCC member, Jan Roberts, encouraged the congregation to participate in D.E.F.T. – Don’t Ever Forget Them. This program, sponsored by Ginger Patz Farmers Insurance, sends greeting cards to veterans living away from home in care facilities. It took several sessions of writing, but the congregation was able to write notes in 508 holiday cards.
Tehachapi Community Church (UCC) appreciates the opportunity to participate with these community projects and thanks the many others who contribute time and money to make a kinder more peaceful world.
