Celebration of Life: Patricia Ann Grimshaw, September 16, 1935 – December 5, 2024

Patricia Ann Grimshaw, 89, passed away on the morning of Dec. 5.

Patricia was born on Sept. 16, 1935, in Gainesville, Texas to Joesph W. and Kathleen M. Howard. She graduated from Gainesville High School and Junior College in May 1953. She graduated from the University of North Texas with a teaching degree in May 1955.

Following her graduation, she started her teaching career in Electra, Texas at the age of 19. In 1956, she took a teaching position in Lovinton, New Mexico. Later that year while driving around town with her girlfriends, she met her future husband George N. Grimshaw at a stoplight. They were married on June 4, 1957. After three years teaching, she took a break for seven years to stay at home to raise her three sons George H., Rodney and Larry. In 1965, the family moved to Elida, New Mexico where she taught fourth grade. She pursued her master's degree while George pursued his bachelor's degree in education. After both graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in August of 1969, they moved their family to California City where they both taught school for the Mojave Unified School District. She was hired as reading specialist and a primary teacher, retiring at the end of May 1994 after 25 years of service. In her 32-year teaching career, she has touched the lives and taught close to a thousand children.

Patricia grew up in a Catholic family dedicating her life to Christ at the of age 6, later in life she converted her faith to the Baptist religion becoming a member of her local church.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George; two sons, George H. and Rodney; and a younger sister Mary Jo. She is survived by her son, Larry of Tehachapi; daughter-in-law, Theresa of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother, Robert of Overland Park, Kansas; brother-in-law Thad (Cecila) of Durham North Carolina; seven grandsons and 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Later in Life she enjoyed traveling/ RVing, spending time with her family and friends.

Her viewing was held Monday, Dec. 16 at 4 p.m. at Wood Family Funeral Service in Tehachapi. A Funeral service is planned on Tuesday, Dec. 17, with graveside service and interment following. The pallbearers will be her grandsons George E., David, Brandon, Wesley, Wyatt, Wade and Bryan.
