Tehachapi Police Department holds annual 'Shop with a Cop' event

Provided.

On Dec. 5, nine children from the greater Tehachapi area were selected and partnered up with law enforcement officers from the Tehachapi Police Department, Kern County Sheriff's Office, California Highway Patrol and California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to celebrate the annual "Shop with a Cop" event.

Each year, the event is coordinated by the Tehachapi Police Foundation and starts with the children having dinner with officers at the Tehachapi Police Department, an opportunity to meet and take pictures with Santa Claus and concludes with a shopping experience at Walmart.

This humbling event allows children and officers an opportunity to build positive and rewarding relationships and helps bolster confidence in law enforcement.

The event was made possible through generous donations from Walmart, Castro Towing, Lieutenant Adrian Hart at California Correctional Institution Tehachapi and the Tehachapi Police Foundation.

The Tehachapi Police Department would like to thank all of the police department staff that participated, Kern County Sheriff's Office, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Walmart, Castro Towing and the Tehachapi Police Foundation.
