Tehachapi's Online Community News & Entertainment Guide
If you've noticed the white patches on the "People of the Nuwä" mural and wondered what was happening, it's all part of an effort by Make Art Tehachapi to preserve this important piece of art.
The team has been hard at work cleaning and repairing the failing stucco, ensuring the mural's structural integrity for years to come. Unfortunately, the weather had other plans. As fall 2024 quickly transitioned into colder months, the team was unable to proceed with the necessary paint touch-ups. The changing weather conditions have delayed this crucial phase of the restoration.
Once the weather warms up and remains consistently warm, the team will resume work. They plan to complete the painting touch-ups and reseal the mural, safeguarding it against future damage. After the mural is fully restored, Make Art Tehachapi will host a celebration and unveiling event. This occasion will serve as an opportunity to thank the generous sponsors who funded the repairs and to honor the community's commitment to preserving its cultural heritage.
Stay tuned for updates and the announcement of the unveiling date. Your support and patience throughout this process are greatly appreciated!
