Tehachapi's Online Community News & Entertainment Guide
The Tehachapi Amateur Radio Association (TARA) is excited to announce that our Winter Field Day will be held at Brite Lake, 22902 Banducci Rd., Tehachapi, from 8 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25 through 1:59 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26.
We are excited to announce that County Supervisor Parlier will visit our Winter Field Day.
Natural disasters are unpredictable and can strike when you least expect them. Winter Field Day is an opportunity for TARA to practice emergency preparedness and communications in winter conditions. This event helps us improve our readiness for disasters and enhances our operational abilities in adverse conditions such as freezing temperatures, snow, ice and other hazards.
We extend a special thank you to the Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Parks District for allowing us to use Brite Lake!
The public is welcome to visit us on Saturday at no charge-just tell the attendant at the gate you're here to see the Ham Radio Club.
Winter Field Day is not only an exercise in emergency preparedness but also an open house for the public.
Come and see what we do, check out our equipment and even get on the radio to make a contact! It's a fantastic opportunity for the community to engage with us and learn more about Ham Radio.
Preparedness is the key to a professional and timely response during any event. Training and operating skills should not be limited to fair-weather scenarios.
This event provides a unique opportunity for radio operators to set up field operations in remote locations, enabling them to connect with other participants worldwide.
We look forward to seeing you there!
