Argie Young Norwood.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Argie Young Norwood on the morning of Jan. 18 in Tehachapi. She was 74 years old.

Argie was born on February 8, 1950, in Nashville, Tennessee to James Russell and Billie Wright Young. She graduated Donelson High School in 1968, then later completed her Bachelors of Science Degree in Home Economics at Tennessee Technological University.

Argie's willingness to help others, her caring nature and head-strong determination were just a few of her many virtues. She was multi-talented, with an adventurous, colorful and creative spirit that many appreciated and loved. Argie taught health and wellness and counseled students with learning disabilities. Later, she became an established designer and fabricator and was employed by some of Nashville's most renowned fabric stores and boutiques. She crafted custom drapery, upholstery and slipcovers in collaboration with other well-esteemed decorators for Nashville's more notable figures, including country music artists, songwriters and actors/actresses.

Following her successes in Nashville, Argie managed and owned her design and window treatment business in Hendersonville, Tennessee. She loved listening to music, playing the piano, quilting, gardening and cooking, but most of all, she loved her family. Argie will truly be missed.

She is survived by her two sons Gray (Meliza) and David (Sarah) Norwood; her four grandchildren Ty, Aubry, Lennon and Cole and her four siblings Carolyn (James) Whittenburg, Susan (Michael) Denney, James Young and Lisa Barry.

Wood Family Funeral Service is entrusted with her care. Please see http://www.woodmortuary.net/.
