From our Supervisor
Newly elected Kern County Supervisor Chris Parlier is thrilled to begin his tenure representing East Kern and its vibrant communities. Since being sworn into office on Dec. 17, 2024, Supervisor Parlier has hit the ground running, immersing himself in the events, challenges and opportunities that make East Kern unique.
Supervisor Parlier's enthusiasm for his new role is matched only by his dedication to the people he serves. In just his first month in office, he has actively engaged with constituents, attending community meetings, visiting local businesses and participating in a wide-range of events across the region. From town halls to ribbon-cuttings, Parlier has made it a priority to connect directly with residents, listen to their concerns and celebrate their successes.
"I am deeply honored to represent East Kern and to be entrusted with the responsibility of advocating for our communities," said Parlier. One of the highlights of Supervisor Parlier's first month was attending the East Kern Economic Alliance meeting in Boron and an additional community meeting in California City, both of which focused on supporting innovation and business development in the region. These meetings provided an excellent opportunity for Parlier to engage with local leaders and stakeholders who share his commitment to fostering economic growth.
During the month of December, Parlier was honored to attend the CHP Toys for Tots Christmas toy giveaway in partnership with the Mojave Air and Space Port. He also enjoyed a wonderful evening with his wife Debbie supporting Bear Valley Springs at a community Christmas party. Additionally, he joined in the family fun at the Boron Christmas Parade, celebrating the holiday season with residents.
Parlier's commitment to public safety was evident when he assisted the Kern County Fire Department in unveiling their new helicopter #409 at Tehachapi airport. This state-of-the-art chopper will be a game changer for fire response and rescue operations in East Kern, enhancing the region's emergency preparedness.
Supervisor Parlier also partook in comprehensive discussions at the Tehachapi Chamber of Commerce luncheon, where he met with the business community to discuss ways to support local enterprises. In Tehachapi, he recognized Kaleb Judy, an outgoing board member with the Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Parks District, and Carrie Champlain for her 20 years of dedicated service. Furthermore, he acknowledged the Tehachapi Amateur Radio Association at Brite Lake for their valuable contributions to the community.
"Thank you for the privilege to serve you and your families," said Parlier. "I look forward to engaging with you as I embark on my mission of service."
Since taking office, Parlier has been closely monitoring local events and activities to stay informed about the issues that matter most to his constituents. Whether it's addressing concerns about public safety, advocating for better roads or supporting economic development, Parlier is focused on delivering results. As Parlier settles into his role as Kern County Supervisor, he remains focused on laying a strong foundation for the months and years ahead. His early efforts to engage with the community and address pressing issues demonstrate his commitment to serving East Kern with integrity, determination and a clear vision for the future.
