TVHD Board approves Hospital Walkway Grant

Our hospital is thriving, from improvements for patients accessing the imaging pavilion to a dynamic work environment for its employees.

The Tehachapi Valley Healthcare District Board of Directors voted unanimously to grant one million dollars to complete a protected walkway between the hospital and the Cyr Family Imaging Pavillion.

A beaming Jenny Lavers, Adventist Health’s operations executive for the Central California Network, reported that, in her opinion, Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley could compete with Disneyland as the happiest place on earth for its employees. Lavers reported that Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley is the highest scoring entity for all of Adventist Health in the area of employee engagement. The lab passed its first joint commission accreditation with flying colors and is in the process of replacing five pieces of lab technology.

Lavers was proud to say that “based off of patient satisfaction data that’s used to calculate CMS five-star ratings, Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley is scoring in the top in the nation for both cleanliness and hospitals that patients would highly recommend.” CMS refers to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The CMS rating system is meant to provide patients with information about facilities so they can make informed decisions regarding their choice of care.

Adventist Health aims to provide everyone with access to care. To this end, it is partnering with Edwards Air Force Base to ensure that those stationed there can receive care. Adventist Health Tehachapi now offers a Medicare Advantage Plan to seniors. The number of providers and specialists committed to working in Tehachapi has increased. Dr. Peyton Riggs, DO is one of the primary care doctors who has joined the team.

Health Grades awarded Adventist Health the Outstanding Patient Experience Award and states on its website that the hospital’s Patient Experience Rating is 10% higher than the national average.

The Tehachapi Valley Heathcare District executive board meets on the third Tuesday of the month at the TVHD offices, 116 W. F St., Tehachapi.
